When I was pregnant, I started to develop these dark spots on my face, even though I felt like I didn’t go under the sun a lot. Some of the patches faded after I gave birth but some remained. I felt so ugly and I really wanted to get rid of them.
I read up on it online and they said that it is called melasma or chloasma. Apparently, it happens a lot to women who are pregnant. I also have tanned skin which makes it more likely for me to have melasma.

It is called a Picolaser because it fires picosecond laser pulses to treat pigmentation. It can even remove tattoos! The laser I had was the Fotona Starwalker laser (such a cool name!) and it can fire a combination of both picosecond and nanosecond laser pulses.
I was afraid it would be painful but the website said that there will be “minimal discomfort” which I clarified during the consultation. They said they will give me a numbing cream so it shouldn’t be painful. And true enough, during the procedure, I felt only light pinprick sensations and a bit of warmth but that was all. I was very comfortable throughout the whole procedure.
After the treatment when I looked in the mirror, I was so happy to see that my dark spots had all disappeared, and I was left with clear and healthy-looking skin. The results are instantaneous! And it was so fast too. The whole procedure lasted only about 20 minutes and I could go home after that.
Dr Ng Hong Yi was very patient with my non-stop questions, and they reassured me about the procedure. His team is very professional and they also made small talk to ask about me and my baby. They said a lot of people come to them for melasma because of childbirth and they all saw good results. Plus the price wasn’t too high either so I was willing to give it a go.
I am so happy I had the Picolaser treatment with Dr Ng. Now I can go and see my girlfriends with beautiful skin. My husband also said I look lovely, which makes me feel so much better about myself.
