Hi everyone, I’m leaving a review here in hopes that someone would benefit from it. I know any cosmetic surgery, no matter how “small” it is, is a huge deal to the one undergoing it. A lot of thought goes into the decision-making process and I hope my review will give you the confidence you need.
Now, firstly, I’m a 44-year-old woman who has always been super minimalistic when it comes to beauty. I’ve always held on to “being natural” and I love how I’ve aged over the years. I’ve really only had one desire when it comes to physically altering my look; double eyelids. I don’t know why but it’s just a feature I absolutely adore. Every time I speak to people, my eyes are first drawn to their double eyelids. For a while, I’ve opted to use the double eyelid stickers, but in all honesty, I hated how obvious they were. Spending extra time with makeup to make it look like I had double eyelids was non-negotiable for me. I am not one to spend any more than 15 minutes on my makeup and it’s just a routine I never saw myself committing to.
After much contemplation, I finally decided I would get double eyelid surgery. Let me tell you, the amount of time I took to research was simply excessive. I was nervous and I really didn’t want to be in one of those “surgery gone wrong” videos. I was extremely worried that getting the surgery would change my face or how I look. I was willing to spend however much it took as long as the outcome was as I desired; natural-looking, low-maintenance, and fundamentally enhanced my face structure.
I finally settled for the Asian Blepharoplasty at Artisan Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery. The surgeon, Dr Vincent Tay, was experienced with endless success cases backing his credentials. I booked a consultation (still with some scepticism) and got the ball rolling. At the clinic, I was given 2 options, a suture blepharoplasty or an incisional blepharoplasty. I was shown some samples and the advantages of each procedure were weighed. The consultation was truly the moment I was 100% sure to commit. Speaking to Dr Vincent built the faith I needed to take a plunge and a plunge I took!
I decided I will go ahead with the incisional upper blepharoplasty. It was permanent, involved less maintenance and Dr Vincent assured me he could make it look as subtle and flattering as possible. I was informed it will take a longer downtime and I was completely comfortable as it is relatively a small price to pay for a permanent beauty enhancement procedure. After taking some measurements, I booked an appointment in the same week to get my surgery done and the rest is history!
On the day of the surgery, I was more nervous than I had anticipated to be. The nurses were such sweethearts, they really comforted me and gave me the support I needed. I was awake during the surgery as I was required to close and open my eyes throughout the surgery. Apart from emotionally being a little paranoid, the whole surgery was virtually painless! The only pain I felt was when they administered the anaesthesia but it really wasn’t “painful” per se. The surgery took approximately 50 minutes to complete but I barely felt the time passing.
I was also a little worried I might look like I was beaten up post-surgery, but let me tell you how pleasantly surprised I was! There was some swelling, so I looked like I had a rough night crying my heart out, but apart from that, there wasn’t much post-surgery bruising.
Within 3 days the swelling completely subsided and I went back to Artisan Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery for my final check. I was out and about sooner than I had anticipated and let me tell you, my confidence was just at an all-time high! Here are the pictures that truly matter: My before and after!
This is genuinely one of the best gifts I gave myself and I’m still riding the high of being pleased with my outcome! It looks so much better than I had anticipated and it’s the perfect level of subtility. One thing I didn't expect was to look sultry, sexy and more alert, it was definitely a pleasant surprise. Everyone I’ve met since the procedure comments on how I look younger, some even said I look like I’ve lost weight and the shock on their faces when I tell them I simply have double eyelids now. I have no idea how having double eyelids elevated my facial structure but boy am I happy! I am so happy that no one has been able to point out exactly what has changed because that’s a testament to how natural the double eyelids are on my face.
