I am writing this review to document my experience at Dr Edwin’s clinic for mole removal. Long story short, I am extremely happy with the results!
I have this huge mole on my chin that I’ve always wanted to remove for the longest time. I have been asked about the mole countless times with friends even teasing me and asking if I am related to Phua Chu Kang.
I searched google for more information about mole removal. Dr Edwin’s website was one of the first to appear which provided me easy to read information about the laser mole removal process.
Using the quick link on the website, I whatsapp-ed the clinic and there was a reply within 15 minutes. Over whatsapp, the staff was very friendly and shared with me that charges for mole removal depend on the size and difficulty of the removal. Small moles are from $100 and larger ones are from $250. The clinic informed me that they can only give an exact price quotation after Dr Edwin examines the mole in clinic. I felt this was fair and booked an appointment to see him the next day.
The clinic is at Changi City Point which was very convenient for me since I stay at Tampines. First impression, the clinic was very nice, clean and professional looking.
Registration was done quickly using a tablet and within 5 minutes, I was in the consultation room with Dr Edwin. He patiently explained the procedure and reassured me that the only painful part is the numbing injection which will feel like a small ant bite. However, because my mole is large, to reduce risk of scarring, 2 or 3 sessions may be needed to completely remove it. He advised that complete removal in 1 session is possible if the roots are not deep. I had a lot of questions and Dr Edwin was able to address them all and was always very patient and reassuring.
Lying down on the treatment bed, I was quite nervous because it was my first time undergoing any form of treatment to my face. Dr Edwin noticed my nervousness and reassured me by talking me through the steps of the procedure. The numbing injection indeed felt like a small ant bite. After 1 to 2 mins, the area around the mole was numb and Dr Edwin started treatment.
The entire laser removal treatment was painless. All I could feel was Dr Edwin wiping at the mole (I later learnt that this was to remove the layers of mole that had been lasered off). When he showed me the mirror, I was surprised to see that my entire mole was GONE. There was a red shallow wound but there was no bleeding and no traces of black/brown mole bits left. I can't describe how happy I was!
To help the wound heal nicely, Dr Edwin recommended 3 types of creams. Antibiotic ointment, Scar gel and Intensive Recovery Cream to prevent infection, reduce scarring and reduce redness + swelling + speed up healing.
All in all, the bill came up to slightly above $1000. Worth it? DEFINITELY. (Another clinic quoted me $2000 for removal via surgery). I am writing this review 1 month after and the wound has healed nicely with a slight pinkish mark remaining. Throughout the healing process, the clinic staff kept in touch and followed up with me regularly. The difference is super obvious, and all my friends have commented on the mole’s “disappearance”. I cannot believe I waited so long to remove something that bothered me every single day. Thank you, Dr Edwin and team, for the excellent treatment results and good service!
